Creative Writing Contest
Rules and Guidelines
Open to all grade 7-12 students in the Gananoque area.
Exercise your creativity by sharing your experience of resiliency and growth in the COVID-19 pandemic.
Entries can be about how it feels to be home under lockdown, changes to daily life, or lessons or ideas you want to remember after the pandemic is over.
Enter up to three (3) poems with up to fifteen (15) lines in each OR one (1) spoken word poem of up to fifty (50) lines. Spoken word entries may include a voice recording to accompany the written submission.
Enter one (1) letter to a past or future self OR one (1) journal style entry of up to one thousand (1,000) words while exercising your own imagination and originality.
Entries must be typed in 12 point font and must include your first and last name, school/home school, age and grade. Submit by email with the subject line: I RISE – Creative Writing Contest Entry. Entries will be judged on creativity and overall quality of writing by Gananoque’s Poet Laureate Gretchen Huntley and members of the Gananoque Public Library Board of Directors.
