Interlibrary Loan Update
Gananoque Public Library will start making Interlibrary Loan requests for our patrons at the beginning of July.
SOLS has announced they will provide partial reimbursement to libraries for delivery costs. This means we can continue interlibrary loan, provided we pay a portion of the shipping costs. SOLS provincial operating grant has still been reduced by $1.6 M. Due to the provincial budget cuts, the previous delivery service has ended, and the network will be switching to mail delivery (with some postage reimbursement). Because of these changes, several libraries are extending their own suspension while they adjust. Some libraries may choose to leave the network entirely. Delivery of books may also take longer. We’ll do our best during this transition period, and keep you informed of changes. Joint Statement from Southern Ontario Library Service and Ontario Library Service-North.
On Thursday April 11th, the 2019 Ontario Budget was tabled in the provincial legislature. On Friday April 11, 2019 SOLS was informed by the Ministry that the SOLS operating grant would be reduced by approximately 50%.
On April 16, 2019 Public libraries in southern Ontario were informed that the SOLS interlibrary loan delivery service would permanently cease to operate, effective April 26th, 2019.
